About me
I primarily work as a director and costume designer, I love how these two aspects of theatre intertwine and connect. The theatre I create is heightened, beautiful, engaging and surprising, my productions are never what is expected. I love language, big stories and passionate characters.
Just as I work with heightened language I also work with heightened physicality, I focus on getting actors out of their heads and encourage them to fully embrace and embody the world of a production. I use clowning and dance techniques in order to lead my actors to creating physically interesting and heightened characters. All of my work is ensemble based, I don’t believe in having “leads” in the traditional sense. Every actor on stage is equally important in creating the world of a show.
I lead by example, I have no patience for leaders that use bullying, belittling and degrading tactics when working with their casts and crews. I believe that theatre should be fun, exciting and feed the soul for all involved. I have always been eager to lift others up around me, I genuinely believe as a theatre community we should stop seeing other artists and companies as competition, but rather we should lift others up to create a stronger, bolder more resilient community.
